A BRIAN BAGE (CHAIR)
Brian was born in Linthorpe, Middlesbrough and educated at Acklam Hall Grammar School in Middlesbrough and Sir William Turner’s Grammar School in Redcar.
Brian was employed for 20 years in local banking. This employment was followed by a Manpower management position in Hamburg, Germany in 1970. Since then, Brian has procured and organised contracts in the Oil & Gas, Shipbuilding and Construction industries in Germany, Holland, Belgium, Norway and the United Kingdom. He is now retired and his many interests include soccer, cricket, antiques and the history of the First and Second World Wars.
Brian has three children – two daughters, one a nurse the other a lawyer, and a son who is an accountant based in Germany.
SIMON CATTERALL (SECRETARY)
Simon was born in Darlington and educated at St. Francis in Acklam and Mount St Mary’s college in Sheffield until he left school at 18 to join in the legal department of Stockton Borough Council.
Simon subsequently moved to London where he worked in marketing and as a full time musician in Covent Garden before attending Chester College of Law and qualifying as a solicitor in 1985. A former police prosecutor, Simon has been a partner and Head of Crime at Jacksons Solicitors for 20 years.
Simon is married and lives with his family, dog, cat and poultry in Yarm. His interests include sport, horse racing and cricket in particular, playing gigs with his band, English and military history.
MIKE BEEFORTH (TREASURER)
Mike is a chartered accountant and senior partner at S.V. Bye Chartered Accountants of Guisborough. He was educated at Acklam Hall Grammar School,Middlesbrough and graduated from Newcastle University.
Married with three grown up children, Mike’s hobbies include exercising his two dogs and old classic films.
Martin was born in Middlesbrough in 1957 and attended St. Mary’s College in Middlesbrough. Martin joined Cleveland Police in 1975, serving for 30 years. For 26 of those years he was a detective in various departments including Regional and National Crime Squads. Post policing, Martin worked in H&S site management and training for petro chemical and training companies in the UK including Middlesbrough Borough Council.
Martin lives locally and has been married for 25 years to Irene. Martin has a daughter named Sophie who is currently at University. Martin’s hobbies include field sports and in particular supporting “the Boro”. Martin has been an avid supporter of the Green Howards for a number of years and is proud to be from Middlesbrough.
TONY WARRINER M.B.E.
Tony joined the 1st Battalion The Green Howards in 1970 at the age of 17, gaining promotion to RSM by 1988. He was commissioned to the rank of Captain in May 1991. He spent time in Northern Ireland, where he was mentioned in dispatches, received a Commendation for service in Bosnia and was awarded the M.B.E. in 2005. Overseas postings took him to Cyprus, Kenya, Canada, Italy, Poland and Berlin. Tony now acts as Honorary Secretary of The Friends of the Green Howards Regimental Museum, Richmond, North Yorkshire.
Tony achieved the rank of Major in 1998 and was retired from the Army in January 2008. He has been married to Anne since 1972 and they have a daughter, Tracey and two grandchildren. He is a keen sportsman, enjoying a round of golf, and also coaches local boxers.
